Revitalized Playground for West Side Children
Golden Apple Volunteers to Landscape Playground at Marillac
Thanks to the hard work of 20 Golden Apple Volunteers, the children participating in Marillac Social Center’s early childhood education and youth enrichment programs will enjoy a revitalized outdoor play area. They dedicated hours of energy, enthusiasm and elbow grease towards trimming bushes, weeding, mowing lawns and everything else needed to invigorate the green-space necessary for cultivating the children’s relationship with nature.
The Golden Apple Scholars are college students who have demonstrated a commitment to becoming leaders in the education community. Their passion for teaching extends beyond the classroom, as they take an active interest in the communities they serve. In this case, the children at Marillac Social Center caught the Golden Apple Scholar’s attention.
Golden Apple has been a leader in advancing the teaching profession since 1985, as they work with teachers across the spectrum of their careers. Golden Apple recruits, prepares, and mentors outstanding prospective teachers; provides high quality professional development; and recognizes and supports the work of excellent teachers.
